Grossular, also known as grossularite or gooseberry garnet (Latin grossularia, "gooseberry"), is a calcium aluminum garnet that mimics gooseberries in appearance. It comes in a variety of colors, including colorless (when pure), white, yellow, brown, red, and green. Grossular used for faceted stones is almost always orange to reddish-brown. Cinnamon stone, also known as hessonite, is a reddish-brown substance. Internal swirls distinguish grossular from spessartine, which is usually plain. Metamorphic rocks are the most commonplace to find it.
Origin: South Africa, Canada, and the United States. Color: Orange to reddish-brown. Clarity: Opaque. Cut: Facets. Treatment: Untreated 100% Genuine Gemstone
