Sonora Dendritic Rhyolite was first discovered in Sonora, Mexico, in 2009. It is named after the state where it was found. The name is also known it as Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite. Made from the volcanic rock with silica crystal, Sonora Dendritic Rhyolite is known for its intricate feather-like dendritic patterns

and dramatic colour range. The base hue occasionally has subtle pink undertones and is banded like hickoryite or wonder stone. This gemstone's attractive colour and structure release stress on the eyes and mind. However, it also brings fortune to those who wear it regularly.

The gemstone is opaque and softer than rhyolite or jasper. The rock of this gemstone is most likely altered by dolomite while undergoing volcanic activity, heating, cracking, and resealing.
