Pinolith (pine stone), also known as Austrian pinolith, is a semi-precious stone that is extremely rare. Pinolith is also known as pinolite, pinolitstein, or in German, märbelstein, and is named for its magnesite inclusions that resemble white pine cones or kernels (pine nuts). The matrix radiance of Pinolith varies from gray to black.

Pinolith is only found in one area on the planet: a magnesite deposit in the Lower Tauern, a mountain range in Austria's Central Eastern Alps, where it was discovered in 1873. During World War II, pinolith was mined for its high manganese concentration, which was necessary for iron and steel manufacture.

Origin: Austria, Spain. Color: Black and white. Clarity: Translucent. Cut: Facets. Treatment: Untreated 100% Genuine Gemstone
