Star Garnet is a dark purple-colored semi-precious gemstone with rutile inclusions that produce a star-like pattern (asterism) on its surface when exposed to a single light source (Titanium Dioxide). Because of its star-like design and incredible healing qualities, Star Garnet is extensively used in jewellery. A Star Garnet has a unique star-like effect on its surface under a single light source, whereas a Garnet has a smooth surface with few internal inclusions. This is the single remarkable feature that distinguishes it from ordinary Garnet. Star Garnets are only found in Idaho and India, and they are dark purple or plum in hue.
