Chalcedony is a kind of Jasper. It's mainly brown, but it also comes in gray, blue, white, purple, pink, red, orange, and yellow tones. The name Jasper comes from the Latin 'iaspidem' or the Old French 'jaspre,' which means dotted or speckled stone. The inclusion of minerals, ash, or silt within the crystal structure causes the speckles. Jasper can be found all over the world, however, the majority of specimens originate in India or Australia.
