Amber is the resin of ancient pine trees that has solidified. The spectacular inclusions of insects that can be found within this organic substance are its most well-known feature. Amber has been used to manufacture jewellery for almost 10,000 years, making it the oldest gem material ever discovered. Amber continues to pique people's interest today. Pieces with clearly apparent bug inclusions, light colors, and clarity receive the best scores. Mosquitos are the most common inclusion. While scientists are fascinated by plant material, it adds little to the value of the jewellery. Large bits of amber are extremely rare. Except for jewellery, high-quality materials are rarely employed.
